PURPOSE:To keep a floating characteristic constant and to improve a slide resistant characteristic, by changing the head load of a floating magnetic head corresponding to the change of atmospheric pressure detected by an atmospheric pressure sensor which detects the atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:A floating head 3 is constituted of a slider 11 and a gimbal 12, and is fixed on a head arm 4 via a piezo element 14. The peizo element 14 is mounted at a position where a spacer is positioned in a conventional device, and a voltage corresponding to the change of the atmospheric pressure is applied on the piezo element by the atmospheric sensor 15 provided at the outside via a amplifier 16, and spring rigidity is changed by changing length in a direction of arrow head and height (hi). Thereby, since the floating quantity of the head 3 can be controlled from the outside and dispersion in the floating of the head due to the change of the atmospheric pressure can be suppressed, the floating characteristic can be kept constant, and as a result, the slide resistant characteristic can be improved.
