PURPOSE:To obtain a medium which has large coercive force and angle of Kerr rotation and is chemically stable by using an alloy of a specific compsn. consisting of a rare earth element-Ti-Fe system contg. Y to form the magnetized film of the medium formed with the magnetized amorphous film having an axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane. CONSTITUTION:The magnetized film is formed of RxTiyFez (R is a rare earth element including Y; the range of x, y, z are respectively 4<=x<=15, 4<y<=15, 70<=z<=92 in molar %). The large angle of Kerr rotation is obtd. and the chemical stability is improved according to the thin film made of such compsn. In addition, the deterioration in magnetic characteristics is obviated even after resting for >=1 months in atm. and the information recording density is increased.
