PURPOSE:To accurately measure the size of a pinhole and the position thereof in the lateral direction, by combining a self-focusing lens array with a tight lock type image sensor. CONSTITUTION:A sheet member 1 is transferred along the sheet passing line of a manufacturing process. When a pinhole 4 is present to the sheet member 1, the light from an elongated light source 1 passes through the pinhole 4 when said pinhole 4 passes between the elongated light source 1 and a light receiving apparatus and further passes through a lens array 3 to be formed into an image on an image sensor 5 as a spot to form a pinhole image 4. The diameter of the pinhole is measured from the width of the pinhole image 4' and the position thereof is also measured from the position of the photoreceptor of the image sensor 5.
