PURPOSE:To provide a damper with a proper degree of opening by a method wherein temperature detecting devices composed of shape memory alloy are arranged at an air passage and a position where a temperature environment is different and a degree of opening of an opening or closing damper arranged in an air passage is automatically adjusted in cooperation with a deformating operation of both shape memory alloys which are deformed with a difference in temperature. CONSTITUTION:A hood 1 is provided with an opening or closing damper 4 composed of upper and lower two punched plates 3 having several through-pass holes 2 and with a first temperature detector device 5. A second temperature detector device 6 is arranged outside the first temperature detector device. The first and second temperature detector devices 5 and 6 store a coil-shaped memory alloy 8 within a casing 7, one end of the shape memory alloy 8 is fixed to one end surface of the casing 7, a sliding member 9 is fixed to the other end and an arm 10 is fixed to the sliding member 9. A difference in temperature is generated across the hood acting as an air passage, each of the shape memory alloys 5 and 6 may generate different deformations with a difference in temperature and a degree of opening of the opening or closing damper 4 arranged within the hood 4 is expanded to a degree of opening corresponding to a full-open or a difference in temperature and then a ventilation is carried out.
