PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of the transmission of a transmission side measured value executed by a different route at the time of measuring the loss of an optical fiber cable, by sending out a signal which has been brought to an optical modulation by an electric signal corresponding to a measured value of an optical wattmeter, to the optical fiber cable, and separating and demodulating the optical modulation signal by a receiving side. CONSTITUTION:A transmission part 10 is provided with an optical demultiplexer multiplexer 12, a photoelectric converter 13 and a voltage/frequency transducer 14, and an optical output is modulated by a modulating signal being proportional to an optical output of a light source 11, and sent out to an optical fiber cable to be measured 3. From in an electric signal which has been converted by a photoelectric converter 22 of a reception part 20, a modulating signal is demodulated, and counted by a frequency counter 23. This counting value is a value being proportional to the optical output of the light source 11, therefore, the optical output of the light source 11 can be known from the counting value, and from this optical output, the loss of the optical fiber cable 3 can be calculated. Accordingly, it becomes unnecessary to send the data of the transmission part 10 to the reception part 20 by a route other than the optical fiber cable to be measured. |
