PURPOSE:To chemically stabilize the titled medium and to prevent the degradation in the magnetic characteristics thereof by installing a magnetized film having an axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane and providing the constitution expressed by the specific formula to the magnetized film. CONSTITUTION:The magnetized film used for this recording medium is constituted of the compsn. alloy expressed by RxMyTzAn. R in the formula includes yttrium cerium, etc., and is at least one kind selected therefrom. M in the formula includes titanium, zirconium and hafnium and is at least one kind selected therefrom. T in the formula is iron or a combination of iron-cobalt, and A in the formula includes aluminum, boron, bismuth and antimony and is at least one kind selected therefrom. This magneto-optical recording medium has the characteristics of >=0.5 deg. the angle of Kerr rotating, chemical stability, and the maintenance of the initial magnetic characteristics even after resting for >=1 months in the atm.
