PURPOSE:To expand an output bit simply by adding an underflow detection output function and a function bringing forcibly the output to a prescribed level by an underflow detection signal. CONSTITUTION:An underflow use comparator detecting an input signal VIN below a minimum voltage VL is provided to a comparator 1 comparing a reference voltage formed by a minimum voltage VL and a maximum voltage VH divided by series resistors R0-R15 and an input analog voltage signal Vi from a terminal A. A gate circuit 7 applies control as to whether or not an underflow signal from a master latch circuit 6 is sent to a slave latch circuit 8 by a control signal from a terminal L, and applies the control as to whether or not an output binary code performed by a code conversion circuit 4 is fixed to a prescribed level forcibly by using the underflow signal. Thus, the output bit is expanded with very simple constitution.
