PURPOSE:To make the erasure of the entry of a nullified data set unnecessary, by generating a catalog in work volume unit, and erasing also the catalog information of a nullified work volume when the nullification of a data set generated on the work volume is performed at every work volume. CONSTITUTION:A volume consecutive number in which the data set is stored and the name of the data set, etc., are inputted from a parameter input part 2 as parameters, and a catalog control part 3 generates a catalog 1 in which the volume consecutive number, the name of the data set, and the consecutive number of the work volume representing the storing destination of the name of the data set are described. After a job being completed, a DASD initialization processing 4 initializes the work volume 10-1 of a designated volume consecutive number 01 by an initialization request, and also, issues an instruction to erase the data set of the volume consecutive number 01 from the catalog 1 to the catalog control part 3. In such a way, it is possible to erase all of the catalog information of the data set having the volume consecutive number as a modifier.
