PURPOSE:To inspect an inference result without reducing the efficiency of inference processing and to previously prevent the generation of an error in an inference system by comparing the inference result with restricting information formed independently of a knowledge base. CONSTITUTION:Since the inference result obtained by accessing the knowledge base 2 from an inference part 1 is compared with the restricting information at the final stage, an error generated by describing incorrect knowledge in the base 2 can be detected at the final stage. Since it is unnecessary to set up any inspection knowledge in the base 2 itself, the efficiency of the inference processing is not reduced. Consequently, an application system can be previously prevented from being seriously influenced and the efficiency of the system is not reduced.
