PURPOSE:To improve productivity, and to reduce the manufacturing cost of a hermetic-seal cover by thermocompression-bonding pairs of covers and seal rings at a time. CONSTITUTION:A peripheral section, on which at least a seal ring is abutted, in a cover 6 made of a metal has a film having excellent solderability. A surface abutted on at least the cover 6 in the seal ring must be coated with a thin layer composed of gold, silver, platinum or palladium, and it is preferable that the thickness of the thin layer extends over 0.05-5mum. When pairs of such covers 6 and seal rings 5 are joined simultaneously, the seal rings 5 are superposed onto the covers 6, partition plates 7 are placed onto the seal rings 5, the covers, the seal rings and the partition plates are stacked similarly in succession and held by upper and lower rigid plates 8, and the whole is introduced into a heating furnace under the state, and heated at a temperature lower than the melting point of the seal ring 5 while push force is applied to the upper and lower rigid plates 8. Accordingly, a large number of hermetic-seal covers can be manufactured at a time thus improving productivity, then reducing cost.
