PURPOSE:To improve the strength of a commutator by forming a recess narrowed in its opening section on the inner periphery of a commutator bar, and engaging a molding material with the recess to rigidly bond the bar to the material. CONSTITUTION:In a molded commutator formed by annularly arranging commutator bars 1 on the periphery of a rotary shaft and integrally molding them with a molding material 9, a recess 4 is formed on the inner periphery of the bar 1. The recess 4 is so formed as to narrow the size l3 of an opening end 3 smaller than that l4 of the deep section. The material 9 is filled in the recess 4 to rigidly bone the material 9 to the bar 1. Thus, since the bar 1 is engaged with the material 9 at both the narrowed section (l2<l1) of the width between the bar 1 and the recess 4, the strength of the commutator can be enhanced.
