PURPOSE:To shorten lower internodes of crops and improve foliar rigidity, by exposing gramineous plant seeds to a magnetic flux density of >=100G after or before dipping the seeds in an iron salt solution. CONSTITUTION:Gramineous plant seeds are dipped in an iron salt solution for a given time and exposed to a magnetic flux density of >=100G for a given time. The order of the treatment with the iron salt solution and the magnetic treatment may be reverse. The iron salt is a ferrous or ferric inorganic salt, organic salt, complex salt or mixed salt thereof. The seeds are dipped in the solution in 0.5-8% concentration (provided that the concentration without dehydrating seed cells is considered as a limit) for 10-50hr and directly or dried and then exposed to the magnetic treatment for >=10min. Ferrous sulfate, ammonium ferrous sulfate, ferric sulfate, ammonium ferric sulfate, yellow prussiate, red prussiate, ferrous tartrate and ferric tartrate are cited as the iron salt.
