PURPOSE:To clean and sterilize the surface of a porous article in a short time with a small amt. of a soln. by introducing a gas from an aq. ozone production process into an acid and further into an aq. alkaline soln., and cleaning the porous article with the aq. ozone, acid, and aq. alkaline soln. CONSTITUTION:An ozone-contg. gas B is formed from the oxygen-contg. gas A from a feeder 2 in an ozonizer 3, and introduced into an aq. ozone tank 4 to dissolve the ozone in cold water C, and aq. ozone F is produced. The gas contg. undissolved ozone is introduced into an acid tank 5 to produce sulfuric acid contg. dissolved ozone, and the ozone-contg. gas is simultaneously dehumidified. The dry gas from the acid tank 5 is mostly circulated to the ozonizer 3, and the remainder is introduced into an aq. alkaline soln. tank 6. A precision filter 1 wherein a ceramic membrane module as the porous article is incorporated is cleaned by washing the filter with the appropriately diluted aq. ozone F, sulfuric acid D, and aq. alkaline soln. E in accordance with the property and amt. of the material deposited on the membrane.
