PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive solid-state image pickup camera on which unnecessary light is not made incident, by forming the hole of an iris stepwise toward an object. CONSTITUTION:With respect to the solid-state image pickup camera where an optical lens 1 and an iris 2 where the size of a hole 4 which determines the aperture is <=0.1mm are arranged in front of a CCD 10 whose light receiving face 11 is 3mm square or smaller, the hole 4 is formed stepwise toward the object. Since the inside face of the through hole 4 of the iris body 2 is parallel with a face perpendicular to a center line 19, a prescribed visual field is secured, and there is little propability that the light incident from an area other than the visual field reaches the lens body 1 because this light is reflected out by the action of the perpendicular face. Thus, a distinct image free from ghost or the like is obtained though the optical system which has a short focal length and a dark aperture is used.
