PURPOSE:To obtain the position of a test piece at a high accuracy immediately before a load is applied thereto while enabling measurement on low load conditions, by arranging a first memory means to store an output signal from a load cell per clock signal and a second memory means to store an output signal from a linear gage per clock. CONSTITUTION:First, a test piece 1 is set on a support base. Then, with the action of an air cylinder 12, a load 13 set on a tray 14 is made to drop at a low speed to load the test piece 1 through a pressure wedge 5. At the same time, a load W working on the test piece 1 for several sec at an equal interval of very short time and a load point position P of the test piece 1 are measured with a load cell 6 and a linear gage 20. Then, output signals are stored into first and second memory means respectively per clock signal generated from a clock signal generator 27 by a control signal from a CPU 26 and relationships between a clock signal and an output signal from a load cell 6 and the clock signal and an output signal from the gage 20 are displayed on an X-Y plotter 33 to prepare a graph of time and load/displacement.
