<p>A focus and tracking lens support (46) includes a pair of bender beams (101, 102) cantilevered from a mounting block (100). A lens holder (13) is supported between the distal ends of the bender beams by two pairs of parallel support arms (105, 106) pivotally joined to the lens holder (13) and the bender beams (101, 102). The arrangement is such that when the bender beams (101, 102) are moved in the same direction tracking functions are performed while when the bender beams are moved in opposing directions, focussing functions are performed. The support arms (105, 106) and the lens holder (13) can be formed from a unitary plastics member. The bender beams can be piezo-electric beams, to which superposed electrical signals for focus and tracking controls are applied for effecting simultaneous focus and tracking functions.</p> |
