PURPOSE:To provide superior seizing and surface roughening resistances to a high-Cr cast iron roll material by specifying the compsn. of the roll material and crystallizing a large amt. of graphite in the structure. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of a high-Cr cast iron roll material is composed of, by weight, 2.4-3.4% C, 4.5-10% Ni, 2.0-3.4% Si, 5-10% Cr, 0.5-1.5% Mn, 0.4-1.5% Mo, <=0.1% P, <=0.08% S and the balance essentially Fe. When the cast iron material having the regulated compsn. is cast, the amt. of graphite crystallized is regulated to 7-14% by area by controlling the pouring temp. or carrying out inoculation or other treatment. Thus, a high-Cr cast iron roll material contg. crystallized graphite and ensuring stably superior seizing resistance independently of rolling conditions can be obtd. |
