PURPOSE: To provide the reinforced junction of plastic with sheet metal by the use of sheet metal with a specially selected coating and molding compositions based on unsaturated polyester resins. CONSTITUTION: Unsaturated polyester resins as the substrate include reaction products between polyepoxide in an amount corresponding to 5-200 mmol, preferably 35-90 mmol, per 100 G of the organic binder of the molding composition, andα,β-ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid which can be copolymerized with said polyepoxide under the hardening condition and whose molecule weight is less than 800. More particularly, sheet metal is lacquer-printed to be corrosion-proof, and coated on the side of the sheet metal to which polyester resin molding compositions are applied, with undercoating agents containing reaction products between polyepoxide in an amount corresponding to 5-200 mmol per 100 G of the organic binder of the undercoating agent, andα,β-ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid which can be copolymerized with the polyepoxide under the hardening condition and whose molecule weight is less than 800 as well as unsaturated polyesters. Then, the coated sheet metal is subjected to high temp. compression molding and curing to produce a sheet metal/thermosetting composite element. |
