PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of improving utilization efficiency of light.SOLUTION: A projector includes: a light source device 31A; three light modulation devices 35; a dichroic prism 34 that separates three color beams from light entering the inside through an incident and outgoing surface 3411 to make them enter the light modulation devices 35 respectively and that synthesizes the color beams respectively entered from the light modulation devices 35 to emit them from the incident and outgoing surface 3411; and a projection optical device 36 for projecting synthesized light. The dichroic prism 34 has: first to third prisms 341-343; a first color separation layer 344 located between the first and second prisms 341, 342; and a second color separation layer 345 located between the second and third prisms 342, 343. Incident angles of light respectively to the color separation layers 344, 345 are different from each other. The color beams separated by the color separation layers 344, 345 are set, based on the incident angles of light respectively to the color separation layers 344, 345 and a wavelength distribution of light emitted from the light source device 31A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
