ABSORBABLE STRUCTURE HAVING GELLING AGENT AND ABSORBABLE ARTICLE CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To provide the subject absorbing structure containing a web composed of a hydrophilic fiber and a non-fibrous non-friable particle of a specific hydrogel-forming polymeric gelling agent and having improved absorbing potency and gelling agent efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An absorbing core 102 to be placed on a liquid-impermeable backing sheet 101 contains about 40-95wt.% of a hydrophilic fibrous material such as wood pulp fiber and about 5-60wt.% of individual particles 103 of a polymeric gelling agent. A liquid-permeable top sheet 104 is placed on the absorbing core. The polymeric gelling agent has an equivalent gel capacity of about >=20g of synthetic urine per 1g of the gelling agent and a particle diameter distribution having a weight median particle diameter of about 400-1,680μm.
