PURPOSE:To effect desired low-noise setting on a setting paper by arranging setting wires formed of a shape memory alloy around the outer peripheral surface of a cylinder as in the manner of making a brush so as to form a drum, as well as selectively heating or deforming these setting wires so as to form characters or figures. CONSTITUTION:All of the setting wires 1a are first flexed by means of a compression roller 3 as a setting drum 1 is rotated in the direction shown by an arrow and are then selectively heated by means of a heating unit 2 to be caused to erect by virtue of the characteristics of a shape memory alloy used. Characters or figures to be set are formed by utilizing these erecting setting wires 1a. Ink is next transferred to the tips of the erecting setting wires 1a, and afterwards a copying paper 6 is held by means of an anvil 7 and the setting wires 1a therebetween, whereupon ink is in turn transferred to the copying paper 6. In the case of a copying paper 6, setting is effected by virtue of pressure. In addition, a carrier 8 is designed to move leftward as the setting drum 1 rotates, thus making it possible to accomplish continuous low-noise setting. |
