The invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy and is provided to be used at aluminium plants equipped with side-worked electrolysers with side current lead to anodes. For simpler anode system design, noise elimination and higher productivity, the invention is complemented with a particular distinctive feature that is also aimed at achievement of the set objective, namely, unique grabs for anode blocks. The grabs are made of high-temperature steel. They comprise two claws (1) connected two each other by four hinges (2). The lower hinge is provided with a steel rod (4) (30 mm) that passes through the upper hinge and is fixed rigidly to a cantilever beam (3). The upper hinge (7) is also provided with one or two similar rods that pass through the cantilever beam and are linked to a device providing grabbing force (opening or closing). The grabs are fixed on three separate beams (6) which, in turn, are provided with three motors and six reduction gears and can be set in motion individually. Direct current from the anode busbar is supplied through a flexible, multi-wire, copper cable (5), one end of which has an aluminium plate soldered to it, and the other is provided with a copper-graphite plate (8) (like an electric motor brush) which is stiffly pressed to the anode by a special device. The beams are arranged so that they ensure integrity of the anode assembly during lowering or lifting; they perform also the function of fume suction. The beams can operate independently, each individually. |
