摘要 PURPOSE:To improve reliability by providing a failure-time rotation detecting means for obtaining the rotating speeds of input side and output side pulleys at the time of the failure of the rotating speed detecting sensors of these pulleys based on other detected values corresponding to the rotating speeds thereof. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the failure of a sensor 94 for detecting the rotating speed of an input side primary pulley, the control unit 91 of a continuously variable transmission obtains the rotating speed of the input side primary pulley by a failure-time rotating speed detecting means, e.g., based on the output signal of an engine speed sensor 96. At the time of the failure of a sensor 95 for detecting the rotating speed of an output side secondary pulley, the rotating speed of the output side pulley is equally obtained by a failure-time rotating speed detecting means, e.g., based on the output signal of a vehicle speed sensor 98. Thereby, the control of belt tension or speed-change control can be properly carried out even at the time of the failure of these sensors, improving the reliability of the continuously variable transmission.
