REPRODUCTION EQUIPMENT FOR LIGHT RECORDING

An optical head includes a light source emitting a light beam which is transmitted via two reflectors to a lens which focusses it on to an optical storage medium, for example a magnetooptic storage disc. The reflectors are supported on a swing arm which is mounted to rotate. Light reflected from the storage medium is returned via the reflectors and a splitting prism to a detector producing an electrical signal. An optical phase compensator is situated between the optical head and the storage surface to compensate for retardation of the light beam caused by the parallelogram prism reflector.
