<p>An ionomer composition contains (1) 85-99% by wt of an ionomer component consisting of a copolymer of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (such as acrylic acid/ethylene, methacrylic acid/ethylene, itaconic acid/ethylene, maleic anhydride/ethylene, monomethyl maleate/ethylene or monoethyl maleate/ethylene) in which the carboxyl groups are (partially) neutralised with a metal cation (e.g. Zn, Co, Ni, Mn, Pb, Cu, Ca or Mg); crosslinked with (2) 1-15% by wt of a polyamide oligomer having primary amine groups at each end (e.g. polycaprolactam). It may also contain (3) a second ionomer (2-99 pts per 100 pts of (1)/(2)) whose carboxyl groups are neutralised with a metal ion or ammonium ion. The MFR value (by JIS K-6760) at 190 deg C under a 2160g load is 0.001-30 dg/min.</p> |
