A biologically active compsn. having slow release charateristics comprises (A) a water-soluble or -dispersible carbohydrate polymer, or their mix., (B) a biologically active macromolecule, and (C) a pharmaceutically- or pharmacologicallyacceptable solvent, or their mix. (A) is pref. dextran, dextrin, starch or cellulose. (B) is pref. bovine, ovine, equine or porcine growth hormones. The compsn. gives a slow release of growth hormones to animals.
