PURPOSE: To apply a desired shape to a molded article without generating burr at any part of the molded article during a molding process for the article comprising a thermosetting material by controlling the meniscus of a molding material at the boundary with the molding surface of a mold in a molding material coagulating process. CONSTITUTION: At first, a predetermined amt. of a molding material is introduced into a mold 42 and a mold 41 is matched with the mold 42 from above and a spacer 54 is placed on each pad 51 to be inserted into the gap between both molds to keep a predetermined interval between molding surfaces and both molds are clamped and fixed by using a clamping member 52A. The thickness of the spacer 54 is selected so as to mutually separate two molding surfaces in order to form a meniscus to the gap between two molding surfaces. The vol. of a molding material 60 is prescribed so that the meniscus 63 takes a recessed surface or an almost flat or projected surface shape when the spacer 54 is inserted. Thereafter, at a point of time when a polymer material reaches a predetermined gel state, the member 52A is loosened to remove the spacer 54 and the member 52A is again clamped and the molding surfaces of the molds 41, 42 are allowed to approach each other to form the meniscus 63 into a desired projected cross-sectional shape. |
