PURPOSE: To increase the photohardening rate by using a photoinitiator system comprising an iodonium salt, an electron-donating compd. and an insoluble pigment which acts both as a sensitizer and a coloring agent. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. contains a vinyl monomer which can be subjected to radical polymn. and a photoinitiator system reactive with visible rays or UV rays consisting of a diaryl iodonium salt, an org. or inorg. pigment which is insoluble with a photopolymerizable compsn. and also acts as a sensitizer, and an electron-donating compd. selected from compds. having about 0.5 to 1.5V oxidation potential to a satd. calomel electrode. Thereby, a very useful combination of the hardening rate, hardening depth and storage life can be obtd., and the obtd. compsn. can be used for various purposes such as a graphic art image, printing plate, photoresist, solder mask, coating polisher, magnetic medium, photohardening adhesive, and photohardening composite material.
