The invention relates to an instrument for sailing, which, when tacking with oscillated direction, indicates the appropriateness of the tack in an analogue manner, and a method of adjusting it. The instrument according to the invention comprises a member for sensing the direction 1 of the terrestrial magnetic field which controls the position of at least one indicating member 2, along the range of movement of which maximum markings 4 and zero markings 3 are arranged for adjustability, which are intended to be set to mark maximum and zero appropriateness respectively. The instrument can be electronic and have automatic adjustment of the maximum and zero markings. It can also be based on an instrument which shows the geographical wind direction. The method of adjusting the instrument involves a maximum marking 4 being set for each tack to mark maximum appropriateness and also, if appropriate, one or two zero markings 3 to mark zero appropriateness. <IMAGE> |
