PURPOSE:To fix stably 0.40g drastic liquid to 1cm<3> bulk volume of a retaining agent by preprg. a retaining agent for a drastic liquid from an inorganic material which is insoluble in said drastic liquid and has <=0.36g/cm<3> bulk density. CONSTITUTION:A lump-shaped product of filter residue, precipitate, etc., constituted of intertwined short fibers is prepd. by forming short fibers having <=about 3mm length by cutting and mixing ceramic long fibers in water with a mixer, etc., then washing and dehydrating by filtration, centrifuging, etc. The lump-shaped product is loosened to small lumps having 1-10mm diameter and dried, forming thus a retaining agent having about 0.02-0.18 bulk density for a drastic liquid constituted of intertwined ceramic fibers having <= about 3mm length. The obtd. retaining agent is charged to a vessel and impregnated with a drastic liquid such as strong acid, strong alkaline liquid, etc., by pouring such drastic liquid thereon. Thus, a retaining agent for a drastic liquid contg. >=about 0.40g fixed drastic liquid per 1cm<3> bulk volume of the retaining agent is obtd. |
