The rotary machine has a casing with two intersecting wall surfaces with parallel axes, and end walls. One male (1) and one female rotor (2) with helical protrusions on their outer peripheries liE within the casing and mesh with each other. Rotor rotation commpresses or expands a fluid in the casing. The tooth profile of the female rotor has major concave portion formed inside the pitch circle of meshing rotation. The profile of the male rotor has major convex portion formed outside the pitch circle, and incorporates a seal strip. The complex rotor profiles is capable of reducing vacuum spaces, noise and power loss.
