Provided are: a protective cover for a vertical pneumatic fender, that suppresses adherence by water surface oil and swelling deterioration of a fender; a vertical pneumatic fender; and a usage for a vertical pneumatic fender. A detachable protective cover 2 comprising a cylindrical protective layer 3 and an attachment section 4 is attached to a vertical pneumatic fender 1A. The protective layer 3 covers a partial range, in the vertical direction, of the outer surface of a trunk section 1a of the fender 1A. When oil C is floating on water in which the fender 1A is placed, the oil C and the range covered by the protective layer 3 of the fender 1A are separated, by the protective layer 3.
