Tetra-, hexa-, and octa-hydro(3,4'-bi-2H-pyrrole) 2,2'-diones of formula(I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are prepd. In (I), R1 and R2 are carboxy-lower alkyl or (un)substd. carbomoyl lower alkyl; R3,R4,R5 and R6 are each H or lower alkyl; R7,R8,R9 and R10 are each H. (I) are useful for treating a cerebral insufficiency.
