Foam sheets having high compressive strength and a cross-section of at least 50 cm<2> are produced by extrusion of a mixture of a styrene polymer and 7 to 16 % by weight of a blowing agent mixture containing 20 to 90 % by weight of a saturated C3-C5-hydrocarbon, 10 to 60 % by weight of ethyl chloride and/or carbon dioxide and, if desired, up to 30 % by weight of dichlorodifluoromethane and/or 1,1-difluoro-1- chloroethane. |
