A device for sealing spaces which are acted on by media, such as liquids and/or gases, at different pressures, in particular between shafts in turbo engines rotating at different speeds and/or different directions of rotation is disclosed, having a sealing element which is anchored to a cylindrical bearing means as secondary seal and forms a radial gap in relation to a shaft as primary seal; the sealing element is intended to consist essentially of an elastomer which provides suspension and damping and is to be anchored to the bearing means with respect to the dimensioning of the radial gaps such that a bearing gap forms the primary seal in the manner of an air-cushion bearing by way of the differential pressure between the two spaces.
