The fish are placed on a conveyor whose surface is divided into tapering U-shaped segments in its direction of motion, and which moves at a constant speed. The fish bellies face in the direction of motion, and the fish heads project over one side of the conveyor and are cut off by a knife. A roller- or spatula-shaped eviscerating device is then pressed along the fish belly from the anus to the severed head end, while the dorsal region of the fish is pressed against the conveyor and the open end of the fish is supported by a fixed guide plate. The severed heads are conveyed by a second conveyor, which is parallel to the first and moves at the same speed as it, to a collecting container. A disposal system for the intestines is also provided. - |
