PURPOSE:To prevent ink from leaking by a method wherein water repellent component is inserted into a smaller chamber in a protruding part of a cartridge. CONSTITUTION:Porous component or fiber component 51 are contained in a tank 13, which is filled by ink. The ink is supplied to a jet nozzle 3 through a connecting passage 1g under the tank 13, and an ink drop is selectively discharged to a recording medium 30 with a head connector 5. A cover 52 is fixed to the tank 13 under a state of hermetically sealing all areas. A projection part 52a projecting above an upper surface of the tank is established, and the inside is filled by water repellent component 53. This water repellent component is composed of porous material or fibrous component having water repellency. Then, an atmosphere communicating hole 52b is provided to an upper part of the projection part 52a, which introduces air into the tank as an amount of residual ink decreases by supply of the ink. Since surroundings of the atmospheric communicating hole 52b are hermetically sealed with water repellent component 53, the inside ink is prevented from flowing out thereby. |
