A holder, with insert openings, for frictionally accommodating pencil shaped writing instruments. The holder consists of several receptacles which are pivotally connected together by means of hinge elements. Such holder has good stability, the pencils may be secured in any position without falling out and they can easily be picked up and replaced in position.
