PURPOSE: To increase an effective range of a transmission gear by automatically shifting a clutch of an extended range to a deceleration position when a shift lever of a main transmission section is shifted to a second position of a low speed gear ratio. CONSTITUTION: An extended range splitter type compound transmission 10 has a main transmission section 12, an auxiliary transmission section 4, and an extended range section 14 which are connected in series. The main transmission section 12 has first and second sliding clutch collars 58, 56 for selectively clutch-connecting the main transmission section to a main shaft 28 with a low speed gear ratio. When a second low speed position is selected by the clutch collar 56, this action is detected by a detection device 264. A clutch 206 of the extended range section 15 is automatically shifted to a deceleration position. An effective range of the transmission gear can thus be increased. |
