PURPOSE:To attain quick synchronization establishment by storing plural counts of counters counting up by the length of a cell and using the plural counts to establish synchronization. CONSTITUTION:A synchronous pattern detection section 81 detects a synchronous pattern from a reception data D1, outputs a synchronous pattern detection signal S1 in the timing and gives the signal to an address management section 82. Every time the signal S1 is inputted, the management section 82 outputs a address data D2 designating a prescribed address incriminated, e.g. sequentially. A memory 83 writes the counted value D3 of a cell length counter 84 driven by a clock CK to an address designated by the data D2 outputted from the management section 82. If the timing when the synchronization pattern is detected is a correct synchronizing pattern signal, the same value is written in the memory 83. When the detected location is not correct, the value written in the memory 83 is different from the others. However, when the cell synchronization is taken, the correct synchronizing pattern is corresponded again in the succeeding detection timing.
