PURPOSE:To enable a developer and an exclusive user to freely set the hardware conditions with high efficiency by adding an initializing process performed with the input of an interactive menu screen of hardware to the operation of a ROM at the time of starting a personal computer. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd initialization processing means are provided. in a 1st initialization processing system, the hardware is initialized in a patch system at the start of a personal computer. In a 2nd initialization processing system, the hardware is initialized in an interactive manner and in a menu screen input system at the start of the personal computer. When an operator produces an interruption via the hardware or the software, the normal patch processing is switched to the menu screen processing. Thus a developer and an exclusive user can freely set the value at the start of the personal computer.
