A method for prodn. of human interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) is characterized by (a) isolating poly A-tailed mRNA contg. human IFN-alpha mRNA from Namalwa cells, (b) synthesizing single chain cDNA fro the isolated poly (A)-mRNA, (c) mass producing human IFN-alpha gene by polymerase chain reaction, (d) preparing recombinant plasmid pPCIF from the amplified cDNA, (e) preparing recombinant vector pHH II from the plasmid pPCIF by use of trc-trp promotor, and (f) allowing the expression of pPCIF and pHH II contg. human IFN-alpha subtype A gene in E. coli cells.
