Sensor for measuring the position of a surface, for example sediment and water. In certain investigations, it is desirable to be capable of measuring the position of the bottom in lakes, rivers and seas in order to be able to record movements of sand, mud etc., and to be able to do this continuously, automatically and without disrupting any water flow so that the measurement results are influenced. This has been achieved by constructing a sensor in the form of a rod which is stuck down into the bottom and in which there are a number of optical reflection detectors, geometrically and electrically arranged in such a manner that a measuring accuracy better than the mutual spacing of the detectors is obtained. An accuracy of 0.1 mm can be obtained, and the diameter of the sensor can be kept at <20 mm. |
