PURPOSE:To recognize intuitively the direction of the position of a destination with respect to a running bearing by newly displaying either of the pattern of the bearing of the destination position or the pattern of the running bearing with the upper side of a display screen as the direction. CONSTITUTION:A map 9a, a destination position 21, destination bearing markers 23 and 31 and a running bearing marker 32 are displayed on a display screen 7a of a CRT 7. Under this state, a present position 22 is computed and displayed based on the data of a GPS receiver 8. The destination position bearing is computed based on the data of the preset destination position 21 and the present position 22. The destination bearing marker 23 is newly displayed. The running bearing is obtained based on the data from the receiver 8 or a gyroscope 10, and the running bearing marker 24 is displayed. Then, the angular difference of the destination position bearing with the respect to the running bearing is computed. The destination bearing marker 31 is newly displayed based on the angular difference. In this way, in which direction the destination position is located with respect to the running direction is intuitively known, and the apparatus is becomes easy to use. Furthermore, the upper side of the screen 7a can be displayed as the direction of the marker 31 for indicating the destination position bearing. |
