PURPOSE:To obtain a video printer capable of printing a card attractively by finding the coordinates of photographic paper and the edge of the card, starting a line head to abut against the surface of the card when a moving means moves, and printing information stored in an image memory on the card for each line. CONSTITUTION:When a platen 1, on which photographic paper 2 with a card 3 stuck thereon is set, advances toward a line head 7 and a probe 61 is brought into contact with the edge of the card 3, the probe 61 is abruptly moved upward because of a stage formed at the edge of the card, and an edge detection signal is inputted from an edge detecting means 6 into a CPU 9. The CPU 9 detects the position of the edge of the card 3 on the basis of the signal thus inputted and allows information stored in a memory 10 to be printed on the card 3. Accordingly, the trouble of arranging the card to be within a photographic range can be saved, and the card can be printed attractively. |
