PURPOSE:To obtain an anisotropic photoconductive thin film element having excellent photoconductive anisotropic and a large area by forming a specific high crystal polydiacetylene thin film on a board. CONSTITUTION:Diacetylene monomer represented by a formula [R<1> and R<2> are -(CH2)4OCONH-CnH2n+1, (n) is integer number of 1-20] is deposited, and a monomer thin film is formed on its board. Then, the film is irradiated with ultraviolet rays by using an ultrahigh pressure mercury lamp, and solid polymerized to obtain a diacetylene polymer thin film. The surface is rubbed only in one direction parallel to a voltage applying direction by using a silicon cloth. Then, diacetylene monomer is further deposited on the rubber film, similarly irradiated with ultraviolet rays, solid polymerized to obtain a photoconductive thin film element made of the film. Dichroic constant is molecular-oriented to three or more, and photoconductive anisotropy is oriented to two or more.
