PURPOSE:To realize photographing without changing a viewing angle by repeatedly detecting a focus while zooming is executed to a wide side in the case that the focus cannot be detected and returning a focal distance to a focal distance at the starting time of the zooming when the focus can be detected. CONSTITUTION:When a focus detection start switch is turned on, the focus is detected by a range finding part 2. In the case that the focus cannot be detected as the result, the focus is repeatedly detected while the zooming is executed toward the wide side. When the focus can be detected as the result, a lens group for focusing (AF lens) LF is moved to a lens position where it is focused on an object. Thereafter, the lens group LF is zoomed toward a telephoto side while it is fixed at the lens position and the focal distance is returned to the focal distance just before the zooming is executed to the wide side. Then, since exposure is executed after the focal distance is returned to the focal distance at the starting time of the zooming when the focus can be detected, a photograph intended by a photographer is taken without changing the viewing angle. |
