PURPOSE:To prevent inadvertent reading/writing and to improve safety by providing a first track storing the data of money information and a second track storing the data used for determining a modulation system and storage density for reading/writing the data of the first track. CONSTITUTION:As to a used card 1, the data of the money information are stored in the first track 2 and the data used for determining the modulation system and recording density for reading/writing the data of the first track 2 are stored in the second track 4. When the card 1 is inserted by a card user and carried, the data stored in the second track 4 of the card 1 are read out, and contacts 12(a) (a), 12(a) (b), 12(b) (b) are selectively switched to the side of a demodulator unit 9 or a modulator unit 10 corresponding to the modulation system of the data and the reading/writing of the data of the first track 2 is executed. Thus, the reading/writing of the data is made difficult and illegal usage can be prevented. |
