Serial data are transferred between at least one microcomputer (11) of a controller and an external device (19) via a transmission line connected to an I/O port of the microcomputer. The external device requests required information from the microcomputer via corresp. selected addresses. Two different modes can be selected by sending two different data words to the microcomputer. In the first mode cyclic addresses are sent to the microcomputer to trigger the transfer of all the contents of a fixed number of addresses in an address table to the external device. In the second mode the address sequence is eliminated and all the contents of the address table are cyclically transferred to the microcomputer. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for test appts. used for testing vehicle ignition control or injection control. Enables large quantity of address contents to be transferred for each program cycle following short setting-up time. |
