PURPOSE:To eliminate an uneven brightness in the lateral direction and to increase the visual field in the horizontal direction in a simple constitution by providing the longitudinal directions of light sources and the side edge directions where reflection boards are contacted to the displays of the display units, in the lateral direction. CONSTITUTION:Plural display units 20 using a PLZT are arranged by making the side edge direction where reflection boards 16 are contacted to displays 12 coincident in the lateral direction. And fluorescent lamps 24 form the common light source of the units 12. As a result, the side edges of the reflection boards 16 are not positioned to the borders of the displays 12 of the units 20, and thereby, the side edges of the reflection boards 16 make no cause to reduce the brightness of the displays 12 when the displays 12 are observed from the oblique direction in the horizontal plane, and the brightness in the lateral direction is made even. Consequently, even though the displays 12 are observed form the oblique direction in the horizontal plane, no parallel slit of the brightness is generated, and no uneven brightness is generated. As a result, the visual field angle in the horizontal direction can be widened. |
